Section 1291 of the Public Health Service (PHS) Act (42 U.S.C. 300d-91), as amended by the section 204 of the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness and Advancing Innovation Act of 2019, authorizes the award of grants to: · No more than 30 eligible high-acuity trauma centers to enable military trauma teams to provide, on a full-time basis, trauma care and related acute care at such trauma centers · Eligible trauma centers to enable military trauma care providers to provide trauma care and related acute care at such trauma centers Also known as the “Mission Zero Act (MZA)” provision, the goal is to build military-civilian partnerships (MCPs) that will improve the nation's response to public health & medical emergencies. The Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), acting through the Administration for Preparedness and Response and in consultation with the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF), awards the grants subject to the availability of funds.
